Remembering through Association

One of the best ways to remember something is through association.

Example:

If you can categorise something, it will be easier to remember

  • By being able to associate a particular plant with a plant family that you can already remember, you will more easily remember the name of that plant.
  • By being able to classify a food as a high carbohydrate food you will more readily remember both the name and various characteristics of that food.

When trying to remember something; first classify it into a category, and then study the details pertaining to that thing.
